Lene is awake, walking, talking and eating !!! BEING LENE

Hey Family,

Lene is doing fine - and as of this afternoon at 4:00, has decided to squash her escape plans for now. For those who haven't heard, after she was awakened after a two and a half month slumber (can you believe the accident was October 29th?) Lene has been getting tired of being in the hospital. For anyone she has spoken to, she asked that they bring her some clothers and shoes. We thought that she should listen more to her doctors' advice and not insist on leaving now, so she was a bit sad earlier this week, because she wants to be transferred to Greenville to be closer to her family. After thinking about it a bit more, she finally came to the conclusion that she would remain at the best care center in this part of the country until her doctors decide that she can be discharged. Kisha and I visited her for about 4 hours today and she has calmed down enough for her blood pressure to go down to nearly normal for her. She wants me to bring her some tater tots and shrimp (just a little bit) because according to her, the food in the hospital is awful. When they did allow her to start eating again last week, whatever they gave her is still stuck in her throat and mind, so nothing tastes good except the Dirty Rice the Trenton crew bought her from BoJangles and the cheeseburger Shelia bought her.

I called Aunt Faye for Lene and they talked for a while - she has a phone in her room and wants to hear from everybody to thank you all for your prayers. Her number is (919) 966-3192. It's right beside her bed and she is up late every night, so you can call at anytime. She doesn't go to sleep until 11 or so, because she tends to wake up every night. They took her catheter out today and the trache will be removed next week (hopefully). She is breathing without any extra oxygen and is trying hard to do the hand exercises so she can get to leave as soon as possible (with her doctors' approval). Take care and hopefully Lene will be at home in time for her 54th birthday on March 6.

Phyllis
